We are excited to introduce Wind in the Willows’ newest acupuncturist: Dr. Corinne Brown, L.Ac.
Dr. Brown studied Chinese medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC. where she graduated with both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
She found Chinese medicine while in college for her undergraduate degree in Richmond, VA. Struggling with both anxiety and depression, she found it very hard to continue to stay on track in school. Knowing her mother had experienced life changing results with acupuncture and herbal medicine, she decided to start getting acupuncture herself. Over the course of a year, not only did she have a new zest for life, but she finished her education and restructured the course of her career to become an acupuncturist and help others working through their own pain and disharmonies.
Her goal is to provide our community with family medicine as a primary care provider. She is particularly passionate about working with mental health, women’s health, and the wide range of internal medical conditions that can create disease, or dis- ease in the body. These include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, PTSD, gynecology, fertility, obstetrics, pediatrics, asthma, seasonal allergies, auto-immune conditions, and digestive health. Corinne utilizes acupuncture, herbal medicine, and adjunct techniques (such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, tui-na, and Qi Gong exercises) in her practice to ensure her patients are receiving personalized care for their various conditions. Corinne looks at the body from a PEMS (physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual) perspective. She has found that the body will become emotionally fatigued after years of physical pain, and vice versa with physical pain being created by years of emotional or mental struggling. In time, this cycle will have an impact on the spirit. Her goal as a health practioner is to view your concern from each of these levels to assure that she is working on both the branch and root cause of any pain or disease pattern.
Dr. Brown enjoys hiking, gardening, watching movies, being creative through art and home design, exploring the Pittsburgh “foodie” scene, and going to concerts. Her favorite season is autumn, her favorite time of day is dusk, and her favorite symbol is the crescent moon. We are so excited at Wind in the Willows to welcome Corinne to our team and we know she will be an incredible asset to our clinic and community.
